Who We Are

We are passionate and dedicated to creating an atmosphere of equal participation.

YSAD INITIATIVE – is a Nigerian based non-profit organization that is focused on active citizenship. It started as a student organization at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and was incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission in November 2010. We are concerned with building networks and social movements that will help usher in the much-desired social change in Nigeria through advocacy, trainings, public awareness programmes, research, dialogue and public interest litigations. Over the years, YSAD INITIATIVE has taken some bold steps towards nation building.

We featured severally on ‘Bridges,’ an NTA Network Talk Show, discussing on issues of national importance. In 2014, YSAD Initiative participated in a youth empowerment training programme organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, FMARD at Isiagu, Ebonyi state, where some Nigerian youth were trained on different aspects of Agrobusiness. In December 2014, we were among the organizations that participated in the Federal Government of Nigeria launching of Youth Employment in Agricultural Programme, YEAP Implementation by the then President Goodluck Jonathan.

On July 18, 2015, YSAD Initiative, among other organizations, partnered with the South African High Commission in Nigeria to organize the 2015 Mandela International Day, where we visited and donated relief materials to Internally Displaced People, IDP at New Kuchingoro, Abuja. YSAD INITIATIVE, as part of promoting active citizenship also visit tertiary institutions in Nigeria occasionally, engaging Nigerian youth on why they should actively participate in the electoral process in the country. Other areas of interest are Education; social justice; anti-corruption; agriculture, job creation & poverty reduction; national unity & national consciousness; and Environmental.
